River Forest Pink Victorian

This Victorian house in River Forest, IL, already had drama on the outside — a pink exterior that doesn't apologize for itself. Our job was to bring that same energy inside. We wrapped the entryway and staircase in large-scale floral wallpaper that sets the tone the moment you walk in, then layered color and pattern throughout the house in a way that nods to the Victorian era without feeling stuffy or overly traditional. Wallpaper became a defining feature here, giving each room personality while honoring the period when florals and bold prints were everywhere. We worked around some existing pieces — a living room sofa, bedroom furniture, bookcases — but most of the home got fresh furnishings, including reupholstered vintage frames like the entryway chair. The kitchen needed better storage for a serious baker, so we added a custom cabinetry piece from Creative Woods Inc. and outfitted the small mudroom to work harder. The bathroom got a full remodel. The real surprise is the sunroom, where we commissioned a custom mural from Relativity Textiles. It's full of hidden details, little easter eggs tied to the clients' hobbies and things they love. It's personal, playful, and totally them. This project is about balancing historic charm with modern life, giving a colorful Victorian the interiors it deserves.
