Skokie First Floor Remodel
These Skokie IL, clients waited 14 years to tackle this project, and when they finally did, they knew exactly what they needed: a kitchen that could handle a big family and constant entertaining, plus a breakfast area that would get used daily for meals, work, and hanging out. The existing layout was awkward: there was a structural beam in the middle of the kitchen that couldn't be removed. Instead of letting it cut through the space and hit the hood, we designed the hood to stop short and draw your eye away from the beam entirely. Storage was specific: they wanted vented produce drawers and thoughtful organization throughout. Together with Joseph DeFrancesco of the Building Connection, we reworked the kitchen, updated paint and lighting across the first floor, and remodeled the powder bath. The clients love maps and history, so we used that as our jumping-off point for the powder room, a small space with a lot of personality. This project is about finally getting what you've been waiting for: a first floor that works for how you actually live, with details that feel personal rather than generic.
